SSI Manhole Insert — Inflow Protector Dish
Strong and durable manhole inflow protector dish. Custom-fit for each casting.
Or call +1 (305) 900-3909.
The SSI insert is the most cost-effective tool in a utility's I&I (inflow & infiltration) reduction toolkit. A leaking cover typically admits 0.20 to over 5 gallons per minute during rainfall — multiplied across a collection system, that's a meaningful fraction of a treatment plant's wet-weather load. Inserts are installable by in-house collections-maintenance personnel with no specialized equipment, which keeps deployment cost low enough that system-wide rollouts become economically practical. Each insert is custom-sized per casting and ships with a 5-year replacement warranty against failure in workmanship.
Ordering checklist. To order a correctly fitting insert, please provide:
- Casting inside diameter (I.D.)
- Casting outside diameter (O.D.)
- Cover dimension A
- Cover dimension B
If you can include a photograph of the existing casting with a tape measure for scale, the order accuracy improves further. Nova will confirm fitment before placing the order with SSI.
Key features
Material
Marlex HXM 50100 polyethylene.
Injection-molded from Marlex HXM 50100 ultra-high-density polyethylene copolymer — chosen for impact strength, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability across thermal cycles in a manhole.
Custom fit
Sized per casting.
Each insert is sized to a specific casting's inside diameter (I.D.), outside diameter (O.D.), and cover dimensions A and B. The custom fit is the difference between a working seal and a dish that leaks past the edges.
Inflow stopped
0.20 to 5+ gal/min per cover.
Stops 0.20 to over 5 gallons-per-minute of rainfall-induced inflow per typical manhole cover. Multiplied across an entire collection system, that's a meaningful fraction of a treatment plant's wet-weather load.
Installation
Installable by in-house crews.
Installable by in-house collections-maintenance personnel without specialized equipment. Keeps deployment cost low enough that system-wide rollouts become economically practical.
